Bollywood movies are full of action, drama, love saga, and filmmakers make beautiful movies mesmerize the audience, the visuals, scenic locations, and stunts add to the value of the movie. Not many know that sometimes to cut back on expenses the beautiful scenic locations seen on screen are actually just elaborate sets. They even fake the locations by picturizing it in some foreign location and naming it as an Indian city or town or vice versa.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani: The movie was all about the trip on which a bunch of friends goes to, apparently the trek which contributed heavily towards Manali tourism was actually shot in Gulmarg, Kashmir and later brazenly passed off as Manali.Omar Abdullah too got involved and raised a flag because Kashmir was depicted as Manali in the film.
Phantom: Kabir khan created Pakistan in Malerkotla in Punjab. The movie is set against the backdrop of 26/11 terror attacks.
Mary Kom: Omung Kumar recreated parts of Manipur in Manali, Himachal Pradesh to shoot his biopic of Mary Kom.
Fanaa: Fanaa was shot in Poland and was shown as Jammu Kashmir in the movie.
Dabangg: The last scene where Salman Khan goes to see Arbaaz Khan for a face off, the setup in the movie was supposed to be at Laalgunj of Uttar Pradesh, but apparently it was shot in Wai near Pune.
Chennai Express: Chennai Express has shown many scenes where it was supposed to be at Komban in Tamil Nadu, but apparently the true location was Wai which is near Pune.
Bombay Velvet: Anurag Kashyap recreated Mumbai in the 1960s in Sri Lanka for Bombay Velvet. The entire film was shot on the scenic island.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan: Bajrangi Bhaijaan is shown to be set in Pakistan but in reality the movie was shot in Kashmir. The climax scene of the movie was shot at the base of the Thajwas glacier outside Sonamarg.
