Check Out: Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3

Isn’t that surprising considering the latter featured Sunny Leone?

We revealed to you a while back, how Tushar Kapoor’s Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 wasn’t a sex comedy as such because of the various cuts it received. However, it was tagged as a sex comedy and it faced another sex comedy, Sunny Leone’s Mastizaade the next weekend. While there was buzz that both the films will have a similar run at the box office, it seems nothing as that sort has happened. In fact Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 beat Mastizaade at the domestic box office.

Tusshar Kapoor’s Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 made Rs 20.15 crore over the first weekend. As trade analyst Taran Adarsh explained in his tweet, “#KyaaKoolHainHum3 Fri 8.15 cr, Sat 5.50 cr, Sun 6.50 cr. Total: Rs 20.15 cr. India biz.” On the other hand, from day one itself Mastizaade found itself trailing KKHH3, as it ended the first weekend at Rs 11 crore nett at the domestic box office. As BoxOfficeIndia.com reported, “Mastizaade had a poor weekend grossing just 11 crore nett over the weekend which is much lower than last weeks Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3. The film is low budget but still needed weekend business of 18-20 crore nett. The first weekend business is as follows. Friday – Rs 3.5 crore, Saturday – Rs 3.25 crore and Sunday - Rs 4.25 crore. Total – Rs 11 crore.”

This suggests Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 outperformed Mastizaade at the domestic box office. But, content may not have been the reason. As exhibitor and distributor, Akshaye Rathi suggested, “Yes, Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 had a better first weekend than Mastizaade. But, it might be coz the audience might have had an overdose of the sex comedy genre and a back-to-back release may have back fired. Ideally, as soon as Ghayal Once Again was postponed, one of the two sex comedies, mostly Kyaa Kool Hain Hum 3 should have pre-poned its release to January 15, but they didn’t and hence both the films have suffered.”
